About Ann & Eric

Eric and Ann

Hello!  We’re Ann and Eric, a warm, loving married couple who dream of becoming parents and building our family through adoption. We can’t wait to raise a child in our nurturing, supportive,  happy and  loving family environment.

We live in Southeastern Michigan and are legally approved to adopt anywhere  in the United States.  We hope and pray that we will be found by an expectant mother who is considering adoption as a loving choice for her child.  You can learn more about us on our Parent Profile. You may also view more photos in our photo album, browse our blog posts, or contact us – we’d love to hear from you!

More about us

At the shore

We feel blessed to have found each other and have always dreamed of becoming parents. Family is very important to us and we honor and cherish our family time. We have lots of experience caring for nieces, nephews and cousins. We are very loving, affectionate, patient, hard-working and educated and we share a great sense of humor and lots of laughter. We know we will provide a loving, creative, safe and happy home, as well as a wonderful education, to our child.

Some of the values we plan to share with our child

Making friends with a donkey

Family values, honesty and respect are very important to us. We also know that a good education, dedication and determination can turn dreams into reality and provide a child with endless opportunities in life. We will also teach our child to have faith, hope, and optimism in life, and will share our sense of wonder, inspiration and creativity with our child.

Our family makeup

Our immediate family includes the two of us and our two kitties, Quincy and Scratchy. Quincy is a lovey- dovey ragdoll cat who is very affectionate and likes to run around and play, sleep and be hugged and kissed.

Our Christmas Cats

Scratchy is a fluffy Persian cat who loves to follow and observe everyone in the household. She is very sweet and calm and loves to play with and chase Quincy around like he is her big brother. She also loves treats, enjoys being petted and brushed, hiding and sleeping.

Lots of cousins and children in our family

Ann and Eric’s parents are all looking forward to their new grandchild in the family so they can spoil them with lots of love and affection. Eric’s brother and sister-in-law can’t wait to be a new aunt and uncle, and Eric’s niece and nephew can’t wait to love and play with their cousin. Ann’s sister and brother-in-law are also looking forward to being a new aunt and uncle, and Ann’s niece and nephew can’t wait to love and play with their new cousin, and teach them lots of fun and games. Ann also has lots of aunts and uncles and cousins that she and Eric are very close to. There are lots of children in our extended family, as well, so there will never be a shortage of children to have fun with!

How our family celebrates holidays and occasions

New Year's Eve

We welcome in the New Year by ringing our noisemakers and kissing our loved ones at midnight, thankful and grateful for another happy and healthy year. At Easter, we color and hide eggs and baskets and after we attend church services, the Easter bunny visits and the hunt begins! We celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with homemade corned beef, cabbage and Irish soda bread. Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day are celebrated with family BBQs and camping somewhere fun and watching fireworks over the lake! We enjoy handing out candy at Halloween and look forward to taking our child trick-or-treating in an adorable homemade outfit. Thanksgiving always means a big family gathering where we cook and enjoy a beautiful turkey with all the trimmings and we express how grateful we are for each other and God’s blessings.

Thanksgiving with our family

During the Christmas holiday, we attend church services and celebrate with a large family gathering with homemade food and lots of love, laughter and happiness – and lots of presents from Santa around the tree, of course! We also celebrate family birthdays with a party, presents and homemade birthday cake!

Celebrating our niece's communion

Our spiritual beliefs

Ann was raised as a Catholic and this has brought her great comfort throughout life. Although Eric was not raised as a Catholic, he attends services with Ann and her family. We look forward to raising our child as a Catholic, so they, too, can experience the great comfort and peace.

Some of the things we like to do, and look forward to sharing with our child

Playing in the sand

Together, we love to spend time with family, going camping in our travel trailer, riding our bicycles, walking and hiking in nature and taking beautiful photographs. We enjoy swimming and snorkeling, kayaking and canoeing and walking along the beach and looking for pretty shells. We love listening to music, reading and learning, cooking, and making and eating popcorn while watching movies and relaxing at home with our kitties.

Walking around the lake

Ann loves the arts – singing, drawing, photography, painting, sculpture and theater. She can’t wait to share these things with our child. Ann loves to garden and grow beautiful flowers and fresh vegetables in our garden. She really enjoys cooking for our family and is looking forward to making our child’s baby food from scratch, too. She recently learned to sew and can’t wait to make our child’s Halloween costumes each year. Ann also loves to write and is thinking about writing a book for children, as well. She can’t wait to sing lullabies and read beautiful stories to our child.

Tulips in our front yard

Eric enjoys sports and playing hockey – he is a great ice skater and looks forward to teaching our child. Eric was very involved with baseball and lots of sports while growing up and he looks forward to sharing these fun activities with our child. Eric was a boy scout for a number of years and learned lots of great things that have proven very valuable as an avid camper. We are very excited about teaching and sharing all of these

Cooking at the campsite

fun and interesting things with our child. Eric also has a really great talent for figuring out how things work and fixing them. He enjoys music, photography, taking care of our home, taking care of our yard to make sure it’s beautiful and home improvement projects. Eric also enjoys cooking and grilling and coming up with all sorts of ways to make us laugh!

Our background (where our family came from)

Ann also enjoys learning about and sharing in German traditions with Eric’s family.

What our home and neighborhood are like

Our home is at the end of a rainbow!

We live near one of the greatest school districts in Southeastern Michigan and one of the top 10 places to raise a family in the United States! Our neighborhood has lots of culture and many top hospitals, schools and Universities right nearby.

Our neighborhood is very safe and clean and all the homes and properties are kept beautifully. The neighbors are very friendly and there are lots of children to play with! We are located close to a beautiful new library that has tons of fun and educational programs for children. When we want to spend time at the park or playground, we have dozens of beautiful places to choose from – many are within walking distance!

Our plan for the baby's nursery, filled with toys, magic and lots of love!

Our home is a lovely three bedroom home and we have a freshly painted, beautiful, sunny bedroom waiting for our child. We look forward to filling it with storybooks, toys, and lots of love! We have a lovely kitchen and dining area, a study, a huge living room, two full bathrooms and a nice sized basement.

Picked from our garden

Our beautiful front yard is filled with flowers and lovely trees. We also have a big backyard with a deck, patio furniture and lots of flowers and trees. We also have our own vegetable garden where we grow our own veggies – tomatoes, broccoli, lettuce, spinach, peppers, eggplant, green beans, carrots, beets, radishes, zucchini and sometimes even a pumpkin or two!

One thing we know for sure

Eric and Ann

We have always dreamed of becoming parents. We have worked hard and have learned a great deal in life, and know that, in life, it is a very rare thing to be able to make a single decision that will have such a powerful and positive impact on others. The decision to place your child with us is a loving, brave, life-changing, strong and selfless act. By doing so, you will provide your child with a secure and loving family, a happy life with a great education and endless opportunities. You will have made our dreams come true, and for that we will be eternally grateful.

We want you to know you can feel at peace with your decision. We promise to provide your child with all the love in our hearts, emotional support and guidance, and a secure, happy and healthy family life. We will do everything we can to help them become the best they can be, and we will always encourage them to dream big dreams and help them achieve those dreams. They will always know that they are very, very loved.

    • Hi Joselyn,

Thank you for thinking of us and for your kind note and prayers! At this time, we are approved to adopt domestically. When adopting from outside of the US, there is a whole other legal process we would need to go through. But thank you for your comment! God bless and have a lovely day. Ann

  3. My husband and I are looking to adopt…any suggestions on where to look where it does not cost thousands upon thousands of dollars. That has been our hardest dilema. We live in Colorado Springs and my husband is active duty army. Anyy advice would be greatly appreciated.

    • Hi Melissa, Thanks for visiting our blog. I would recommend checking out the site adoptivefamiliescircle.com, they have tons of resources regarding attorneys and agencies. I believe you can research by state, as well! Then, you can call the agencies and attorneys and ask them what their fees are and what their process involves, that way you can make an informed decision. One good question to ask is whether they want any fees up front and what happens if the birth mother changes her mind. I believe the website also has a list of questions to ask and things to consider when you are deciding which agency or attorney to go through. Best of luck!

  4. I too live in Michigan and saw your site on a posting on babycenter.com. You will make wonderful parents as I can see you will provide many enrichment activities for your child from camping, gardening, sports, etc. That is great and I wish you the best luck. A child will be very lucky to have you as parents. God Bless!

    • Thank you, Melissa! That is so kind of you to visit our site and comment. We are looking forward to the day when we can bring all of these wonderful things into our child’s life. :-)
